Last Minute iPhone UI Design: The Icon
At Smoothstone we were in the final stages before releasing a soft phone for the iPhone that would bring our unified communication platform to the iPhone, and a dial tone. Among some of the last minute iPhone UI work was the need for an app icon. In true startup mode, all our internal resources were working on other high need projects, and there wasn’t enough time to go outside the company. It was time to brush off my design skills, and create a few icons for executive approval.
These icon set was based on the new Smoothstone logo, the power of the cloud, and a rapid study of other cloud solutions.

Interactive Scrum Staffing & Resource Planing
It’s very difficult to get to the right Scrum team in an enterprise. Often the teams are being pulled from highly specialized employees, and part of Scrum is that the work can be applied to anyone in the team (that has that skill). In the enterprise, it is essential that when a Scrum team is being formed, truing is supplied. It also helps if the employee is self-directed in the training. Scrum puts the employee in a place of being responsible for acquiring and maintaining the skills to complete the job. This is a major shift in the normal operations of most enterprises. -

My Experience: Visualizing the Chronology
Some have called me a job hopper. Based on my history, thats a true statement. What I disagree with is the perspective and negative language used in the description. I’ve done a lot, much more than most people – I’ve worked in retail, publishing, ad revenue, healthcare. I’ve worked for four person startups, and Fortune 100 companies. I’ve looked to the new. A lot of people want to stay in college all their life because they love learning new things. I love learning new things, too. I think I would have stayed in college all my life, if we learned while building rather than learning alone.Below is a visualization of my work history, linked at http://vizualize.me/iGni5G6JGX#.TvbCmWAutJ8 -

New IA Map using MindMeister
Today I got a twitter about a great new map at http://www.mindmeister.com/24358308/entrepreneurship-scene – it illustrates the Austin Entrepreneurship
Scene, and I decided to take a deviation from my MindJet to use MindMeister. It’s a typical bare necessities software, and that’s nice to get work done quickly. I’ve shared the map, and emailed it off to the CMO. Let’s see how it goes in the IA meeting.
Here’s the new Smoothstone IA map:

Nice, thanks for sharing. Also used to use MindJet … moved to OpenMind (liked the “gantt chart/project” view) … but the open structure of this looks cool > I’ll definitely check it out.
